Performance Audit Plans
PROBLEM: When you see the many examples of poor performance and mismanagement on the pages of this website, it is natural to ask: why not do some performance audits? A performance audit would assist the organization in discovering systemic breakdowns and allow the auditor to make recommendations for improvement. But, the very resistance or refusal to even consider using audits is part of the problem.
SOLUTION: All of these departments, units, agencies should undergo a 360 degree performance survey followed by a performance audit so that we can determine what works and what doesn't. Once that analysis has been undertaken, we can create action plans to address any weaknesses and improve the overall performance of the organization. This is such a basic tenet of good management that it must be done in order to achieve government excellence.
